INTENDED USE For In Vitro Diagnostic Use Invitrogen’s monoclonal Mouse anti-Multidrug Resistance-associated Protein antibody is intended to qualitatively detect Multi-Drug resistant-associated protein in frozen and formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Interpretation must be made within the context of the patient’s clinical history and other diagnostic tests by a qualified pathologist. BACKGROUND The Multidrug Resistance-Associated Protein (MRP) molecule is an integral membrane glycophosphoprotein belonging to the same superfamily of ATP-binding cassette transmembrance transporter proteins as P-glycoprotein1 . MRP is overexpressed in many P-glycoprotein-negative, multidrug resistant cell lines and tumors2 . The drug resistance activity of MRP may be due to its function as a plasma membrane drug efflux pump3 . Mouse anti-Multidrug Resistance-Associated Protein (Clone: QCRL-1) reacts with a linear epitope on Multidrug Resistance-Associated Protein, a 190 kDa transmembrane phosphoglycoprotein overexpressed in various human multidrug resistant tumor cell lines4 . REAGENT PROVIDED Mouse anti-Multidrug Resistance-associated Protein Antibody is purified from mouse ascites and diluted in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.4, and 1% bovine serum albumin (BSA) with 0.1% sodium azide (NaN3) as a preservative.
